What are 3 of your biggest mistakes in life and how do you see them now?
1. I used to chase short term results, both financially and from a career perspective. I’d get far, then it’d come crumbling down. When I think back, I realize how many lessons I learned but I could’ve been more patient. This is one of those lessons that you can learn from someone else’s mistake instead of learning it yourself. Take it from me, be patient and go for the long term results and success. Because short term results mean short term success.
2. Another is a lack of understanding personal finance. I’ve spoken about this a lot on the show lately. I generated a good income in my 20s and didn’t do anything with it. When I was in my 30s I started to understand investing. So my advice here is to start investing now. Anyone who is younger than me that I’m close to I tell them to start now. It doesn’t have to be a ton of money that you invest, but just start as early as you can.
3. Ruminating on failures and set backs does nothing. Accept your mistakes, acknowledge the lesson learned and move on. There is no sense in wallowing over what was lost or feeling like you failed.
What are your life textbooks that constantly re-read?
How do you start learning something new? What’s step 1?
Become obsessed with actually wanting to learn about the thing. There are so many tools to help you. AI, YouTube, books - it’s all out there. Turn yourself into an avid self-learner then go find the experts.
There is nothing more annoying than someone who wants to start a podcast who has done nothing themselves and just wants to ask me what they should do. If they had already read and learned all they could and wanted a more advanced insight from someone who is actually doing it, then that’s a different story.
Anything you want to learn is already on the internet and accessible to everyone. You can do it, just take the first step. But you have to be interested.
No one taught me how to run a media business. You have to become obsessed with learning then put it into practice.
Advice on staff management and morale?
Every manager and every leader should start from a place ‘everything is my fault.’
Lack of communication, lack of accountability are not qualities fit for a leader. If you’re complaining about the people who report back to you, it’s your fault. It’s your fault because you didn’t set the table properly, didn’t communicate their responsibilities or expectations of them, or didn’t remove them from the team when you could see things weren’t working.
People under your management need to feel respected and safe, not constantly on edge because they think they’re boss is going to lose their shit at any moment. It all comes down to accountability and communication.
Should I invest in a red light device?
I’ve seen tons of improvements from using our Lightstim bed. I’ve had back issues from weightlifting that I don’t have anymore, I’ve seen improvements with inflammation, my skin looks better and I just feel healthier. I can also see through using Eight Sleep that my REM sleep has drastically changed since using it.
I use it in the morning when I first wake up, then I meditate, then I read. It’s an investment, but if you have money to spend on it, I would do it. (Use code SKINNY for 10% off.)
My parents are divorced. My dad spends more time with his GF and her kids. How do I move on?
All you can do is move past it or not. Communicate how it makes you feel but you can’t force him to change. Make the decision to move on, or not. There is no use focusing on things or people you can’t control. Our relationships with our parents can be complex, but to put it bluntly, why give energy to someone who doesn’t give any to you?

Do you take creatine while pregnant?
During this pregnancy I took creatine every single day. Obviously check with your own doctor but I took it before every workout. I’ve noticed energy, mental clarity and that my skin has tightened up around my muscles. It’s actually one of the most researched supplements and the benefits are indisputable.
If you want to know more you can listen to Angelo Keely, the founder of Kion, on the show or read this blog post. There are a lot of good brands out there: Momentous, Arrae, Kion to name a few.
Best sunscreen for your body while pregnant?
Primally Pure just came out with one that I’m excited to try (use code SKINNY for 15% off). I use Caffeinated SPF on my face, neck and chest, and for my kids I’ve been using Pipette.
28 year old stay at home mom who wants to be creative and do more wellness practices. What would you do?
You make time for what’s important to you. I would start by taking 20 minutes every day to fit in creative time, a workout or just doing something you love. Just start. Once you get in the habit of putting that time aside for yourself, come up with a plan to reach your goal.
Once you build momentum and work that time into your day it’ll become a habit. Small changes lead to big results so the key here is to just start. Being a stay at home mom is a big job, but if you can’t find 20 minutes for yourself on most days, then maybe it’s time to re-valuate how time is spent so that you can reach your goals.
How do you listen to Louise Hay daily?
I’m Louise Hay’s biggest fan. I’ve read all her books and listened to them too. A few months ago I thrifted some of her meditation tapes and bought a cassette player so I can listen to them without using a phone.
Louise Hay’s story is so compelling and she is an example of the idea that you are your thoughts. The way you speak to yourself and the energy you put into the world is what you get back.
Any new products you’re loving that we don’t know about?
Prepping for the baby has taken priority, but yes. Here are some things I love right now:
+ New Mushroom Vibez from Woo: So cute and works like a charm. It’s easy to use and a fun addition to your nightstand, whether you’re single or not. It’s discreet too, so if you’re looking for your first vibrator, I highly recommend this one.
+ iPhone keyboard: The best way to batch returning DMs and texts.
+ Ryvalia sheet mask: My go-to right now (use code LAURYN35 for 35% off)
How do you stick to your rituals with an infant and the chaos of no-sleep?
I think you have to embrace the chaos of having an infant. Going from 0 to 1 kid is a real shocker, but when you have your second or third baby, you realize how fast it all goes and it’s a little easier to embrace the infant stage. Plus, you know what to expect, which helps a lot.
In my house I have a lot of help, and I always want to be transparent about that. I don’t ‘do it all.’ Michael is very hands on and we have family and hired help so it gives me time to do what makes me feel my best.
Give yourself grace, take it easy and do what you can do, when you have time for it.
Quick self-care ideas:
+ A 3 minute ice roll or cold shower in the morning can wake you up instantly.
+ A few minutes with the facial massager is all it takes to contour and drain your face.
+ Take your Mint Roller on the go so that you can practice self-care wherever you are.
+ Enjoy morning sunlight and get your steps in by going for a walk with the stroller.
